HR Manager

Location: Manchester (Hybrid working – minimum of 2 days based in the office)

Contract type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Flexible working, role can be full time (35 hours per week) or part time.

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

Role Purpose: As HR Manager, you’ll focus on managing and developing our global HR systems and processes, to empower our teams, managers and staff. You’ll also contribute to the smooth running of our business across all our locations.​ This role plays a key part in continually developing an efficient and motivating workplace.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for people combined with a commercial focus and interest in finding the best ways to enable teams. You’ll be a proactive problem solver with excellent organisational skills and a strong understanding of HR practices.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

People management 

  • Act as an advisor to managers across our territories (UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand), enabling them to manage performance effectively supported by systems and processes, and providing support for any matters that need to be escalated (eg performance, disciplinary, grievance, absence).
  • Direct staff queries to manage the efficient and empathetic handling of HR matters.
  • Coordinate employee lifecycle processes (inc recruitment, on-boarding, progression, and leaving), including any related matters (for example, right to work).

Compliance

  • Oversee compliance with company policies and procedures across all our territories, ensuring policies are up to date and staff are able to comply with them.
  • Ensure employee information within company HR systems (including People HR) and online storage systems are accurate and adhere to GDPR rules.
  • Working with finance colleagues, manage payroll and pension contributions ensuring these are compliant and accurate.
  • Manage external providers of HR-related services (inc legal advice, software, training, immigration etc).

Culture and engagement 

  • Manage timely employee feedback and work with colleagues to implement actions from this.
  • Support employee growth and advancement, working with managers to coordinate continuous professional development.
  • Working with management, lead elements of employee experience, including our employee workspaces, initiatives to support staff engagement and wellbeing.

Operations Management 

  • As part of the operations team you will assist with other operational tasks relating to the running of the business as and when required.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience across the employee lifecycle including recruitment, employee relations, performance management and training.
  • An empathetic approach, applying understanding of global, diverse teams.
  • An analytical mindset, driven to optimise systems and employee experience.
  • Able to work with multiple partners and stakeholders – internal and external – to deliver solutions.
  • Ability to navigate unfamiliar situations by gathering information, consulting with others, and finding solutions.
  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
